The photograph was taken in 2007, the print is from 2020. Signed on the back and provided with the imaging agency logo and the following description by McCurry: "I loved photographing these 5th grade Hazara students in Bamiyan province they were engaged and excited about what they were learning. After seeing the dire plight of the Hazara people in Afghanistan, I founded ImagineAsia to help provide educational resources. Education is the key to a better and more prosperous future. "
McCurry is an American photographer and photojournalist. His most famous work is "The Afghan Girl" with green eyes, which was published on the cover of National Geographic in 1985.
